A Friendship Adventure With Ronald McDonald

Students in Pre-K - 3rd grade were able to participate in a wonderful interactive adventure with Ronald McDonald on March 14th. They learned important lessons about being a good friend, cooperation, playing and about how to deal with bullying. The students really enjoyed the program and received a coupon for free apple dippers or fries. Thanks Rondal McDonald from all the students and staff.

March for Babies

Springdale Elementary School in Tazewell, TN is involved again this year in fundraising for the March for Babies (formally March of Dimes).  They have changed their name but not their commitment to saving babies.  Prematurity is the leading cause of newborn death, and survivors often have lifelong medical complications.  Your donation will help save premature and sick babies by raising awareness and funding important research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it.  The cause of prematurity is unknown in every 4 out of 10 cases, and the number of premature births is rising.  We strongly support their efforts, as several of our students past and present have been born prematurely.  This year our school is represented by Kayla Hatfield.  Born prematurely, Kayla weighed only 1 lb 15 oz and was only 13¾ inches in length.  She survived thanks to the neonatal staff and developments of research funded by March for Babies.  You can see a photo of Kayla on our webpage (link is below).  As a sponsor, we welcome you to share your personal story of how March of Dimes/for Babies has touched you.Contributing to our march online is fast, easy and secure. You can donate directly from our personal webpage with a credit/debit card or PayPal. If you prefer, we can also accept cash or check.  Just click the appropriate box on our webpage.  Your entire donation goes directly to the March for Babies.  You can link to our webpage below.

Promoting Safety
Ollie Otter visits Springdale Elementary

Ollie the Otter,” and volunteers from the Tennessee Technology center in Morristown, with the Tennessee Highway Patrol recently visited Springdale Elementary School to promote Ollie’s booster seat and seatbelt safety program.  This was a wonderful opportunity to instill the need for safety and obeying the laws in the state of Tennessee.  Springdale Elementary School was presented with a 4 foot 9 inch Ollie cutout, which allows students to test their height for booster seat requirements, and students were presented with a bookmark, which explains the Tennessee laws of safety requirements.  Parents are urged to log onto the website: www.trba.org/ollie for further information about Ollie and the laws of Tennessee.
