Forge Ridge School History:The four-room brick that was to be the beginning of Forge Ridge School was built in 1928. A.H. Hill donated the land, and some citizens and community members gave $100, while still others donated their labor. This building housed the elementary grades 1 - 8 and a high school. It is now where grades 1 - 4 are located. The neighboring building houses the Pre-School and Kindergarten classrooms. The stone building that is on campus was built in 1940 - 1941. It was once used as the cafeteria, but is now our library. The gymnasium building was built in 1952 and houses the gym, middle school Social Studies and Science departments, Guidance Office and additional classrooms. As enrollment increased, so did the need for more space. The building that currently houses additional middle school classrooms was built in 1974, and an addition was completed in 1978. It contains the Speech Office, the Math and Language Arts departments, and the Special Education departments. The Computer Lab was built in 1983, and the cafeteria and office area was built in 1988. In the fall of 2003, Cumberland Gap High School opened, which combined our high school and Powell Valley High School. Forge Ridge currently has a K- through 8th grade distribution of 198 students. . |
